Golflogix GPS-8 Roadtest Part 1

Yesterday I decided to really put my golflogix which I bought at In The Hole Golf through it's paces and tested it to destruction, well almost, but more about that later. I specifically wanted to test how accurate it was at distances and took a pedometer with me as well. Although I admit that this wasn't a scientific test, it was a good one none the less. I also wanted to test the time it takes to lock onto the satellite and whether it ever lost it's connection. Finally, I wanted to see whether it was readable and easy to see in bright sunshine.

First of all, the really great thing about the Golflogix GPS is that no matter where you are it seems that your local golf course is available in the database. It can carry 20 golf courses at the same time and to upload the courses you want is a simple matter and very detailed manuals are available to show you how to do this very simple thing.

So when I arrived at my local 18 hole course near where I live, I switched on the golflogix and waited to see how long it would be before it locked up to the satellite. Well, there was no disapointment there, within a couple of minutes the unit had locked up to the satellite and knew exactly where I was also.

There was hardly a cloud in the sky and the sun was pretty bright for this time of year butI am pleased to say that the golflogix GPS8 was still very clear and I didn't even need to adjust the contrast settings to read it. The unit's large LCD display was more than a match for the Spring sunshine. I also like the fact that the GPS8 shows my name at the top of the display which is a great thing if you ever were to lose the unit or have it stolen.
